Senior Full-Stack Developer

Join our Oddly Human team as a Full-Stack Developer!

At Bambora we are on a mission to create the most customer focused payments experience. Join our Oddly Human team in Victoria, BC as a Full-Stack Developer. We are seeking software developers who identify as senior to join a team of developers who have complete ownership of a payments-related product.

What you will do:

  • Design, code, test, and document features for a distributed web-based software application in collaboration with other developers, IT operations, and product owners
  • Hone your skills as a technical mentor and/or mentee through peer code reviews and other collaborative software design and development practices
  • Take part in an agile Scrum environment through the rituals of stand-ups, retrospectives, planning, and refinement sessions, and the practice of iterative and incremental changes with frequent (at least every two weeks) releases
  • Share in a rotating responsibility to handle ad-hoc troubleshooting and support for our clients and internal team during regular business hours. (We call this sacred duty ‘Heimdallr’)
  • Have bi-weekly one-on-one check ins with your manager for support and career growth, using the Bambora Engineering Ladder to guide you
  • Use learning tools like LinkedIn Learning and Safari Books to engage in continuous learning on the job - with your own account for both! 

Who you are:

From our perspective, to be successful as a Full-Stack Developer on our Oddly Human team you will have, or be on your way to developing and gaining: 

  • Experience developing web front-ends with JavaScript and React (or similar library or framework)
  • Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs with JSON and/or XML
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL or SQL Server
  • Experience in a tech leadership role, or leading a scrum team
  • An understanding of web application security and of software design patterns
  • Familiarity with technical practices such as test-driven development and continuous integration
  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent job experience 
  • Fluency in English (written and oral)

It would be great if you had:

  • Experience developing web services and applications using C#
  • Experience developing web services and applications using Python with Django or Flask (or a similar language framework) AND/OR Experience developing web services and applications using ASP, VB6 and/or .Net
  • AWS (EC2, ECS, ElasticBeanstalk) or similar cloud infrastructure provider
  • Docker
  • Message queue technologies (eg. RabbitMQ or Amazon SQS)
  • Caching technologies (eg. Memcached, Redis or Amazon ElastiCache
  • Authorization and authentication technologies (eg. OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT) 
  • Managing Windows or Linux-based servers
  • JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket, Bamboo and/or Git
  • And, knowledge of e-commerce and / or payments industry
