Monitoring & Settlements Specialist

Bambora’s Victoria, BC location is looking for a Monitoring & Settlements Specialist who can hit the ground running, is curious about fin-tech and wants to learn.  Does this sound like you or someone you know?  

Role:

This is a multi-faceted, data oriented role responsible for settling payments, monitoring merchant activities and generating insights to manage risk. Duties and responsibilities include:

Monitoring (50%)

  • Analyzing fraud data and assisting with management reporting.  Use established criteria to categorize, process and analyze low to high complexity information of relevance to risk
  • Reviewing new and ongoing merchant relationships, identifying and investigating potentially suspicious activities
  • Making evidence-based decisions to close an account or to contact the merchant to discuss the unusual or suspicious activity
  • Providing mitigation options to minimize losses resulting from fraud and/or merchant negligence while balancing customer experience
  • Escalating new and emerging fraud trends to management to improve fraud detection rules

Settlements (50%)

  • Processing large volumes of ACH/EFT/SEPA/BACS payments and pre-authorized debit and supporting Operations team for merchant related changes/updates
  • Processing chargebacks, reversals and sales draft requests
  • Escalating discrepancies or technical errors to management/IT according to nature and severity of the issue

Who we are looking for:

We need a doer, and an Excel master. More specifically, we are looking for someone who has the following attributes:

  • Advanced Excel skills, comfortable with data analysis
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Focus, dependability, and reliability with attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Ability to think in a methodical and logical manner
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with investigative techniques and reporting protocols in the payments industry is an asset
  • Post-Secondary education or equivalent experience in the payment fraud sector is an asset
