Bambora is a payment institution under the supervision of the Swedish FSA with a growing global presence and a mission to simplify payments for small and midsized merchants. Our head office is in Stockholm, Sweden, but our work reaches people worldwide.

We are now strengthening and expending our Compliance function with a Data Protection Officer (DPO). You will be part of a smaller team and report to the Head of Compliance. The compliance function reports directly to the CEO and is a support to the Board of Directors. In the role as DPO, you will support Bambora’s organization in the daily work life to ensure good compliance and handling with our processes and procedures based on the data protection rules.

As DPO at Bambora, you will be involved in all issues within the company group that relate to the protection of personal data. You will be able to work independently in your role, have contact with all parts of the Bambora group and you will report to the highest management level of Bambora. Your role will be very important for the development of Bambora as a service provider and you will get an understanding of Bambora’s entire business and of the payment transaction market, on a higher level as well as in-depth.

Your main tasks will be to inform and advise the personnel at Bambora in relation to data protection rules and to monitor the business’ compliance with such rules. Further, you will be asked to take part in or lead data protection impact assessments and give advice when Bambora intends to develop its business model. You will be responsible for the contact with supervisory authorities within the field of data protection and to act as a contact point for such authorities. You will also carry out the other tasks required by a DPO under relevant data protection rules.

Qualifications required

  • We are looking for you who have 5 years of practical experience of working with data protection
  • You will have a proven track record of translating regulation into processes that can be audited and demonstrate the ability to embed and promote best practice in data processing activities
  • Confidence in providing advice to staff at all levels across the Group.
  • Able to develop and deliver guidance, advice and training to staff about their response
  • You must have a good business understanding, combined with a solution-oriented mindset. As a person, you have high integrity and good ability to work independently but you also collaborate well with your colleagues
  • Relevant academic degree, preferably in law or a system writer • Fluent in Swedish and English - additional languages are meriting
