Developer Advocate

Developer Advocate

Bambora is on a mission to shape “the most customer focused payments experience”. Our Developer Advocate’s role is to enable developers to build, test and deploy applications that deliver this experience. We're just getting started, and have lots to do. We need to ensure that our documentation is both simple and comprehensive. We need to ensure that our APIs are both flexible and intuitive.

A Developer Advocate at Bambora is focused on supporting third party developers who build applications and businesses with Bambora’s payment APIs. They act as passionate advocates for our technologies, and are vocal champions for developer interests within Bambora.

This is a position for technical people who love connecting with developers, speaking about APIs and consulting on solution architectures. You also communicate internally with our Product Managers. You are a collaborator at heart.

What you will do:

You’ll be embedded in the sales team in either our Victoria, BC or Toronto, ON office while working closely with Bambora’s development and product management teams to bring new products to market. More specifically:

  • Provide integration support to external third party software developers, CTOs, and overall contacts to expedite their integration to Bambora’s platform.
  • Own the integration phase with ongoing / ad hoc technology calls, reference and contribute to Bambora’s developer portal documentation, and listen to the specific needs of each partner’s use case.
  • Effectively manage several parallel partner integrations at a single time.
  • Create awareness and momentum, and drive the success of Bambora’s APIs through your interactions with third party developers building applications.
  • Advocate the adoption of Bambora’s APIs to strategic partners and the broader developer community.
  • Participate in technical and design discussions with technical executives, acting as strategic partners to speed adoption and ensure best practices during implementation.
  • Champion our developer products in person and online by presenting at conferences, blogging, developing videos, writing technical tutorials and conducting other similar activities.
  • Advocate for developers internally and influence Bambora’s developer product strategy by working with Product Management, Development, Marketing, Business Development and Risk.
  • Contribute to the rollout of a professional services program.

Who we are looking for:

At a minimum you have:

  • A BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Software development experience, with coding experience in two or more of the following languages: Java, JavaScript, C/C++, C#, Objective-C, Python, or Go.

Nice to have:

  • Experience as a software developer, technical support/advocate, product owner/manager, and/or consultant working with various APIs.
  • Experience working directly with partners or third party developers.
  • Experience with APIs.
  • Experience with Online Payments.
  • Bilingual English /French, an asset.

Who we are:

We are proud to come together as innovators, service engineers, financial advisors, marketers, and digital masters.  Bambora process transactions in 65 markets and has over 700 employees in Europe, North America and Australia.

The payment market is rapidly changing, and Bambora is a part of that change. We are a payment company with global presence and a mission to simplify payments for small and midsized merchants whether that business is instore, online or in-app. In July 2017, we became part of Ingenico Group, one of the world's largest payment companies, which provides increased opportunities for us to simplify payments and help customers grow worldwide.

In North America we are globally-minded with a start-up atmosphere. You will experience this in your every-day life as a Bamborian.
